Kolkata, 16 August 2026. The 80th Independence Day celebrations commenced at our corporate office in Kolkata, with our Chairman, Functional Directors and CVO paying floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Memorial. Our Chairman, Shri B. Sairam, then hoisted the National Flag. Smt. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal was present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, our Chairman, Shri B. Sairam, reaffirmed Coal India’s commitment to India’s energy security and highlighted the company’s foray into renewable energy, coal gasification and iron ore mining. He also spoke about sustainable initiatives such as large-scale plantation, land reclamation, sustainable mine closure and eco-friendly mining practices. He further highlighted Coal India’s strong CSR commitment towards the well-being of communities. He outlined the initiatives undertaken to strengthen coal evacuation through First Mile Connectivity projects, which enable efficient and faster supply of coal.
Smt. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal; our Chairman, Shri B. Sairam; Director (Marketing & HR – Additional Charge), Shri Mukesh Choudhary; Director (Finance), Shri Mukesh Agrawal; Director (Technical), Shri Achyut Ghatak; Director (Business Development), Shri Asheesh Kumar; and Chief Vigilance Officer, Shri Brajesh Kumar Tripathy, along with the President and Vice Presidents of CILOWS, unveiled the 20th edition of Koyla Darpan on the occasion.
Members of CILOWS also handed over fruits to the representatives of Alakendu Bodh Niketan, a home for persons with special needs in Kolkata. During the program, merit scholarship certificates were distributed to the wards of employees in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements in Class X and XII. The event concluded with a cultural performance.
